I’m Gisela. After years in tech, I stepped into something completely different — I took over Ludwig’s Beer Garden and found something deeply fulfilling.
There’s a German proverb I love: “Liebe geht durch den Magen” — love flows through the stomach.And Goethe said: “The joy we give returns to our hearts.”Both feel true in this space.
At Ludwig’s, food is more than food — it’s comfort, memory, and care. Our team cooks with heart, offering warm classics and creative vegan and vegetarian options.
And our beer selection — I’m truly proud of. Our general manager, Janina, grew up in the beverage world in Southern Germany and she curates every pour with passion. We also offer German soft drinks, house cocktails, and non-alcoholic versions — so everyone can enjoy something special.
What makes Ludwig’s feel like home is the people. On sunny days, our patio fills with life — kids, dogs, old friends, new neighbors. Everyone belongs here.

Ludwig's is a cute outdoor bier garden right on the corner of Castro and and California. The patio is dog friendly and any seat gives you a great view of the street. The service was fast and they had a lot of season holiday specials! (Turkey sandwich, cranberry Radler)...

Good beer, good food, good service, and a fun atmosphere. They have lots of outdoor seating, which is great on a warm summer night. I came were with a group of friends, and everyone had a great time. I will definitely come back.

We love Christmas time here! They have the best mulled wine (with a free refill) and tummy warming dishes like goulash and dumplings in mushroom stew. It's always decorated super festively too which is a plus. Definitely a 10/10 experience everytime when you want to have a Christmasy type meal and a fun seasonal cocktail. Their desserts are pretty great too!

Biergarten style restaurant in the heart of downtown Mountain View. Lots of outdoor seating and music was not to loud, with a variety of American oldies. Dishes and beer listed were mostly German style...

I've been to Ludwig's about a dozen times now. Every time I come everyone loves the food. They have a seasonal menu that changes each month which is nice. And a decent selection of vegetarian food (I love the mushroom stew). Also, great beer choices and great staff. Really fun to bring cards or dominos to play at the long benches.
